Racy and modern is the theme behind the Gucci Spring/Summer handbag line. A plethora of silver metallic can be found on many of the Gucci bags. The Gucci Race Medium Top Handle Handbag features metal plate details but is not immersed in silver. I am completely neutral about the bag, but am totally loathing the tassel details on either side. Tassels belong at the bottom of curtains and on many bags just look annoying. Black suede is the basis of the bag, which if offset by purple and red piping and metal plate detailing. Is it s a good thing or a bad thing that I am really just indifferent? Don’t love it, don’t hate it, just makes me say Ehhhh. Measurements are 9 2/5″H x 20 1/2″W x 6 1/3″D. As the owner of a dog I must say that your little contraption, the Gucci Dog Backpack, is not only pointless but plain stupid. Last time I checked my dog has no accessories to carry around with him, rolls in dirt, slobbers, uses his tongue as a washcloth, and eats other dogs ‘excretions’ if you will. Why on Earth does he need a backpack? Let me think it through.

Option 1) to carry treats around you may argue. Well really? My dog will eat anything, I mean anything. Give him metal, he will eat it, glasses, excretions, asparagus, and his own vomit. So seeing that dogs have a very strong sense of smell, placing a backpack on him that carries threats would inevitably have him contort his body, roll around non stop, bite, bark, and squeal until he got that bag near his mouth. He would then proceed to eat the classic GG nylon fabric, brown leather trim, and side-zip pockets until he found the treat.

Option 2) To carry his own accessories in it. Ok I did not buy one of those cute huskies from 8 Below. My dog lies in the sun and walks around the neighborhood. Is there anything so important that he will need that for? I will go out on a limb here, but I bet my dog is like most others- he is not a working dog, he is a pet.

Option 3) To make him the trendiest dog on the block. Erhmm, does he even see color? Does he need to know that there is red and green webbing on his backpack that so perfectly rests on only one side of his body? Afraid not.

For $410 (via Gucci) I think I will pass because all of the options above for why this dog backpack was even needed to be made have failed to ring a bell in my mind.

Fringe, fringe, fringe galore! I don’t usually have a problem with fringe, but I can’t decide if this bag has too much of it. Gucci is a brand I love. I have a pair of Gucci sunglasses I wear all the time and I am definitely on the hunt for a Gucci handbag I can tote around all the time as well. But, I don’t think this bag is it. The Gucci Large Babouska Hobo looks unique and perfect for the fall season. I think the stud accents and brass hardware compliment the fringe extremely well. In fact, as I sit here typing, the bag is starting to grow on me more and more. There is a double strap option (one detachable shoulder strap) which provides a nice option. If you’ve read any of my other posts, you know I am a self-proclaimed clutz. Nothing crazy, but I have been know to trip, drop my bag, and have the entire contents spilled out on the sidewalk. So, obviously, I love not only the snap and push-lcok closuer but also the inside zip and cell phone pocket. I am also drawn to how soft the leather looks. Who doesn’t love soft leather? I am officially jealous of this cake. Jealous of the receiver, jealous of the people that could actually create and design this, jealous of all who helped eat it. This is indeed a cool cake. Looks like this was given as a gift for a 21st 26th birthday. And while so many people equate lots of shots on their 21st 26th, a designer handbag cake would have been up my ally so much more. This is a Gucci Cake complete with a Gucci Boston Bag on top of a Gucci Box. Even the little cookie would have made my day. I can not imagine the price for a cake like this, novelty enough that it would end up being totally ridiculous, but isn’t it amazing?

I am now rethinking our wedding cake. Why did we go traditional when I could have had a full fledged designer handbag cake for all of our guests. My birthday is coming in September though. Instead of Gucci, I would prefer more of a Chanel or Hermes. Just sayin’

Who hasn’t had an atypical upbringing?” He tends to ask and answer his own questions, and they’re probably the same questions some shrink posed to him: “Was I the ideal age to be presented with a huge challenge like that? I was probably a little young.”

Delana Taylor McNac for the Hospice of Green County Inc. in Tulsa, has a solution that’s good for the patient and good for the pet.

Hospice is a home care concept for those who are terminally ill and prefer to receive palliative care in their homes until their death occurs naturally. 

Most of us realize how supportive a pet can be to a terminally ill person. A pet’s instinctive knowledge that his owner is sick calls on his most loving instincts to be there for his very special friend.

That’s what Rev. McNac realized when she developed the Pet Peace of Mind program. She is a Hospice chaplain and, coincidentally, a former veterinarian.  Her new program, which depends only on donations, helps to provide pet supplies, pet care, transportation to pet services, and many other necessary service just for the Hospice patient’s companion pet.   Though it is encouraged that a patient determines where the pet will go after his death, or that families arrange for a well-matched placement of the pet, Pet Peace of Mind will work will local rescue groups to help place pets after their owners have passed away.

Pet Peace of Mind is up and running in the home town of its originator, Tulsa, OK, and more than 100 Hospice centers are interested in developing the program already.  McNac hopes that by this time next year 7 to 10 Hospice programs will have been started.
